FAMILY AND DISTRIBUTION

The orchid family comprises more than 20 thousand species distributed all over the planet, most of them found in tropical areas.
Brazil has one of the largest variety of native orchids, comparable only to Colombia and Ecuador. Recent studies record approximately 2.300 species in our territory.
