CONSERVATION

Unfortunately, in Brazil and other parts of the world, the cultivation and trade of orchids have had extractivism as a practice. Besides the destruction of their natural habitats, many species disappeared or are facing near extinction. To change this situation, it is mandatory to establish a conservationist conduct to be followed by individuals as well as institutions.
Today, orchids are easily reproduced by artificial means in laboratories from the seeds up, usually reaching maturity in two to four years. Rare and endangered species are beginning to be reproduced with success in some laboratories.
