RESUMO

ABSTRACT

(Leaf surface of two understorey shrubs - Rudgea decipiens Müll. Arg. and Rudgea macrophylla Benth. (Rubiaceae)). Micromorphological characteristics of leaf surface of two species of Rudgea are presented. The study was based on material from the understorey of Atlantic Forest. Special attention is paid to the occurence of smooth and striated cuticle, to paracytic stomata (some of which exhibit an unusual pattern in the arrangement of the surrounding epidermal cells) and to papillae, which are irregularly distributed on the abaxial leaf surface. Correlations between the leaf surface features and environmental factors are discussed.

RESUMO

Um novo exame da morfologia das duas espécies brasileiras do gênero Sessea (Sessea regnelli Taub. e Sessea brasiliensis Toledo) possibilitou reconhecer caracteres morfológicos relevantes para diagnosticá-las e conceituar o gênero. A análise comparativa entre os gêneros Sessea e Cestrum, permitiu estabelecer uma nova posição hierárquica para o gênero Sessea. Para as espécies brasileiras, é apresentada uma chave para reconhecimento e novas localidades de ocorrência no país são registradas.

ABSTRACT

New investigations on the morphology of the two Brazilian species for the genus Sessea (Sessea regnelli Taub. and Sessea brasiliensis Toledo) have made possible the recognition of some morphologic characteristics which are relevant to the diagnosis of the species and the conceptualization of the genus. The analytical comparison between Sessea and Cestrum led to a new hierarchic position for the genus Sessea. The present paper also includes a key to the Brazilian species. New occurrences in the country are reported.

O presente trabalho aborda a anatomia foliar de Eugenia cuprea (Berg) Ndz. e Marlierea suaveolens Gard., espécies muito representativas na Floresta Atlântica da região de Macaé de Cima - RJ. As duas espécies foram analisadas segundo suas epidermes, parênquima clorofiliano, sistema vascular, tecidos de sustentação (colênquima e esclerênquima) e apresentação das estruturas secretoras e substâncias secretadas.

ABSTRACT

The present work relates to the leaf anatomy of Eugenia cuprea (Berg) Ndz. and Marlierea suaveolens Gard. Species, with representative occurrence in the rain forest of Macaé de Cima - RJ. Both species were analyzed according to the epidermis, chlorenchyma, vascular system, supporting tissue (collenchyma and sclerenchyma), secretory structures and their secreted substances.

RESUMO

Psychotria velloziana Benth., espécie muito representativa na Floresta Atlântica da região de Macaé de Cima - RJ, apresenta estípulas interpeciolares; superfície foliar lisa; epiderme biestratificada na face adaxial. As folhas são hipoestomáticas com estômatos do tipo paracítico e paralelocítico, mesofilo dorsiventral e sistema vascular formado por feixe colateral. O tecido de sustentação é representado por fibras perivasculares e colênquima angular no pecíolo e na nervura principal. Cristais prismáticos, ráfides, e estilóides apresentam-se distribuídos no pecíolo e na lâmina foliar. Na face inferior da lâmina foliar ocorrem domácias e destaca-se a presença de coléteres na base das estípulas.

ABSTRACT

Psychotria velloziana Beth., with representative occurrence in the Rain Forest of Macaé de Cima - RJ, presents interpetiolar stipule; smooth leaf surface; bilayered epidermis in the adaxial surface. The leaves are hypostomatic, with paracytic and parallelocytic stomata, dorsiventral mesophyll and collateral vascular bundles. Mechanical tissue shows up fibers to the exterior side of a vascular bundle and angular collenchyma in the petiole and midrib vein. Raphides, prisms and styloids crystals were seen in the petiole and blade leaf. In this specie occurs domatia in the abaxial surface and colleter in the stipule base.

RESUMO

Anatomia foliar de Gomidesia spectabilis (DC)Berg. e Gomidesia nitida (Vell) Legr.(Myrtacae). São apresentados dados relativos à anatomia da folha de Gomidesia spectabilis (DC)Berg. e G. nitida (Vell)Legr. Ambas as espécies ocorrem na Floresta da Tijuca (Mata Atlântica), município do Rio de Janeiro. A análise da estrutura da folha das duas espécies revelou epiderme uniestratificada, estômatos paracíticos distribuídos somente na face abaxial, numerosos tricomas tectores, mesofilo dorsiventral, presença de cavidades secretoras, feixes vasculares do tipo bicolateral, idioblastos cristalíferos e conteúdo tânico abundante.

Leaf anatomy of Gomidesia spectabilis (DC) Berg. and Gomidesia nitida (Vell) Legr.(Myrtaceae). The anatomy of leaves of Gomidesia spectabilis (DC)Berg. and G. nitida (Vell.)Legr., collected from plants which grow in Floresta da Tijuca (Mata Atlântica), Rio de Janeiro municipality are presented. The analysis of the structure of the leaves showed uniseriate epidermis, paracytic stomata distributed only on the abaxial surface, numerous non-glandular trichomes, dorsiventral mesophyll, secretory cavities, bicollateral vascular bundle, crystal idioblasts and abundant tannic content.
